BERET

I've not seen
the whole canuck
pieces here
a tease there
sure i could guess
at intents
imagine portents
and late flights
for rendezvous worthy
of a queen's secret
we decided
independently
(as colonists) to keep the abstract
abstract
and the distance distant
good thing as we each
had little discipline
and one of us would be entering
a sacred realm whereby fledgling
look for the model of completeness
and truth. the other had been through a 
similar phase and understood
that in his reflected stab at perfection
there would be no pretense that kids
would see themselves
as anything but misguided progeny.
